Pick your spots here and your paths correctly and this area is a ton of fun as long as there aren't too many hikers or too much horse poop. Last time I rode my gravel bike, this time brought my mountain bike that I just rebuilt. Had this 2003 Trek which has a perfect fit frame for me. Stripped it down to the frame to start. Changed the fork. Took off the old V brakes and changed to disc front and back. Needed a special adapter mount for the rear. Set both rims up tubeless with decent tires. Then changed the old obsolete 3X8 drive train that had at least 6-8 almost never used gears, and swapped for a 1X10, needed a goat link 10 derailleur hanger extension. Front has 32 teeth and rear cassette is 11- a big 46 tooth granny gear. Still a heavy mtb but it lost over 2 lbs. in the process.
