| partners | | The next AM we got to Palm Canyon Road in time for a nice sunrise shot, no clouds though. I did get a sun star off a saguaro which was something I particularly enjoy. Our lead photographer shoots the area frequently and was able to direct us where and when to shoot. He has a tibbermode mentality so we got along just fine  . The desert floor here in the Kofa is fabulous.
Next we drove up to the hike TH. I helped Ambika sweep but the fella we were with just didn't have good balance and about 1/2 way we were finally able to persuade him to turn back. He had taken a fall the afternoon before and may have been feeling the after-effects. He just wasn't very stable so I was glad Ambika finally convinced him to turn; I felt bad for him. I went back with them so I didn't get to see the palms. Hopefully I'll get to come back.
We waited quite awhile for the others to return and we had lunch during that time before driving back down the road and off to the right where we would hang for a bit before our next photo stop. Meanwhile, one of the participants had seen that there was a labyrinth just off the Palm Canyon Road so we checked that out before heading north and east to Queen Canyon Rd for our late afternoon/sunset shoot. The road is a bit dicey in places but all of the vehicles on our trip made it just fine.
Here we did get to walk further up Queen Canyon Road. I wish we had foregone the break earlier and been up here to walk and explore around as there was lots of points of interest. The rock formations, alcoves, arches and desert flora are just so fascinating here in the Kofa.
And just like the nite before, we drove out during the dark back to Ehrenberg for the nite. I'm going to do one other log for the next morning where we drove up King Road for our morning shoot. |

For me, sometimes it's just as much about the journey as the destination.
Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled. |
