| no partners | | Tied my own shoes today for the first time; but not quite as tight as I like. I planned to do this hike after what I anticipated would be a good review from the surgeon this morning and I indeed did well. Altho after they took the cast off I got very light-headed and nauseous so I actually had to lay down a moment before they could proceed with x-rays. However, I was perfectly fine after and based on the very short conversation with the surgeon; I think I got an A+; they assisted me with putting on my new wrist guard and I was off.
I drove over to the TH and started my hike back to the scene of the crime. It was a nice morning and quite a few hikers out. And once again, I hiked past where I was supposed to turn but further than I did eleven days ago. I turned around safely and headed back to where the main trail turns up and east. I photographed the crime scene area observing the rocks that caused my injuries to be more severe than if they had not been there. Well good riddance and up I went; altho I found myself trying to be a little extra careful. I don't think you realize how many things distract you when you're hiking .
I actually passed a few people on the way up, glad to be getting some elevation. At the top I actually sat on one of the rock benches with great views of Arrowhead Lakes. I didn't want to jump the gun but I already felt victorious. I enjoyed the ridge here as I made my way east and headed down the rockier part of the trail. It was very noisy on this side; annoying actually but I did get to see a blotched lizard so that was nice. When I got back down the mountain I almost jumped for joy! As cousin Connie said, "you got right back on that horse". However, I don't see a need to hike this again anytime soon.
and yep, I'm actually typing on my keyboard. The part that hurts is twisting the wrist but hopefully that will be easier soon. When I got home there was a package waiting with a tea rose plant in it from Wendy that I am hopefully doing the Six Peak Challenge with so that was very nice. Not sure if it was really a bribe, ha! |

For me, sometimes it's just as much about the journey as the destination.
Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled. |
