| no partners | | Had a long list of things to get done but wanted to get out and move so we ended up heading up to Wise Mesa again.
It's close and interesting in places.
We started at the blue watering tank and headed down a wash and very soon there after found about 12 backpacks.
They looked recent and it was a bit unnerving to find them in such pristine condition. No tracks though.
Blankets
Clothes
Empty water and food containers.
Might go back and get the backs and start a backpack business. Forgot to get pictures.

Down the wash into a shallow canyon and up the other side via another small wash.
Along the ridge headed West which lead us to the road and then back to the truck.
about a mile.
On the way back we saw an overgrown road and decided to check it out.
This led North and we came to Peck Canyon road.
There used to be a gate at the end of the road but it was gone so we went for it.
There is a house right as you go through where the gate was and a man came and called us back.
"hey, where are you going?"
me, "probably not any further down this road right?"

Mapquest lists the road as public but he has it blocked off to the national forest.
Jim Cummings.
We talked for an hour or so. Very interesting personal history and family stories about the area.
He seemed like kind of a hermit but friendly enough and said we could come back and talk some more. |
