I saw a tank named Hidden Tank on one of my maps and decided to check it out.
Kind of a last minute thing.
Last night and early this morning I planned a different hike but decided to go into work for just a hour and then head out.
Four hours later...
At about 1:00 everyone was cranky so I said I was going home for lunch and then took a drive.
Parked beside Gasline road in a pullout and dropped over the edge of the canyon.
It's very steep and only took 11 minutes to get to the creekbed.
280 drop in elevation spread over 850 feet.
It was a mostly controlled descent.
Headed up a wash and hiked past the tank a bit and had to back track. Dry as bone.
Rested in the shade for about 10 minutes by a small cave and decided to cut it short because my stomach hurt.
Headed on around the main canyon and planned to head up right below what looked like tailings or erosion.
Missed it by about 100 feet because I couldn't see it from the canyon floor.
Once I got back I hiked around the ridge another quart of a mile.
Found the washout when I planned to return and I can't figure what it is.
