|West of Rio Rico took Camino Ramanote past Atascosa Corral. Took the ridge beside Gasoline Road. |
If you explore this stretch of gas line road do it in a serious 4wd. I almost didn't make back up even in low 4.
I parked the Avenger where Gasoline splits off of Ramanote and headed along the ridge till I cliffed out. The cliff was between 20 and 40 feet in places and I followed a cow path Along the edge to the South for about 200 yards till I found a break.
Up a ravine to a narrow saddle overlooking a tank. Rested here in the sparse shade and saw a coatamundi (sp) come out of the nearly emptytank.
Headed back in a wide loop which got wider because I suddenly found myself in what felt like a Gary Larson cartoon.
It comes to my rule of the letter B. Anything that starts with the letter B I do my best to avoid. All the baby cows and mama cows ran away but there was one Bull with a hump on his back who stood there and pawed the ground.
I swung really wide over the edge of the ridge along some different Cliffs and came back out of his sight.
I've never seen ground so bare. It looked like there had been a fire and burned all the vegetation right down to the dirt. I really think the cows have overgrazed this area.
It was a quick trip today. There were lots of cow paths to follow so it went really fast
