| partners | | We bailed on Plan A because of a closed I-17. Joe came up with this one.
On our trips to the Deadmans/Sandy Saddle falls area, this mound has always intrigued.
The hike up Barnhardt is always special. The geology just blows me away. Fall is still holding on in the canyon with the amber cottonwoods lining the the flow down Barnhardt Canyon. Both Hawaiian Mist and The Big Kahuna having some flow.
At the saddle, with 6243 coming into view, we began plotting our path to attack the top. It was definitely not a fast climb to the top, with one particularly 40' wide section of Manzanita to tunnel through.
Up top we took in the views and ate some lunch. We also noticed a quite large fire to the ENE on a line towards the Show Low area. We took a slightly different line on the way down, but still hit the same patch of Manzanita.
Surprisingly we only saw one person on the trail all day and had a Chums sighting on the drive up. |
