| | | Year 11 in the NYE hikes Denny and I started on 12/31/2010. We were both a bit younger back then [ photo ]
Over the years we've added a cast of characters. This year we had 9 degenerates, including my son Rob who was in from NC.
We started out with both temps and winds in the 30's. The plan was to do a CCW track and hit up Black Cross Butte first. Luckily we missed the turn and were rewarded with a nice windbreak. This is the easiest way to make your way to the top, or points west. Once to the saddle the trail gets a bit thinner in spots. With 18 feet on the ground twice, it should be easier now.
The climb to the top of 3402 gets a tad steep, but not too bad. We took the obligatory group shot and took in the incredible views before starting back down.
Back at the saddle, we split up with some taking the way in, back.
BCB 3351 was easy to gain and after a short hike across the butte, we headed down. It was slow going, but a blast finding our way down.
Thanks all for joining us. Happy 2022! |
