| no partners | | We went back near Sacred Mountain to walk around and look for petroglyphs and whatever. We looked at several small highpoints and walked the ridge just east of the V-bar-V State Park petroglyph site.
The first couple highpoints had a little pottery and some small stacked stone walls, but most of the rock is limestone and we didn't find any glyphs. We bushwacked along past some riparian areas and dry creek beds and then up the small ridge between V-bar-V and Sacred Mountain. Since we didn't find anything of interest I thought it might be fun to come off the ridge to the west and go through V-bar-V and return along that creek. It became clear though that the park was closed so we chose to be good citizens and skip the developed areas. We wended between red rock cliffs and thick brush to the creek bottom in that draw and followed it to it's intersection with Wet Beaver Creek. Here the bottom was pinched by cliffs and crossing the creek would get our feet wet so we retreated back up and over the ridge and back to the car.
Disappointing to find so little in this rich area but still a nice day out. |
