Kind of an uneventful trail but the return trip close to sunset made for some nice scenery. This trail at Wind Cave trail Head is in Usery Park so there were quite a few people hiking the trail. I saw one family with their 3 kids hiking and it reminded me of my father taking us hiking when we were small and inevitably at least one of the kids is complaining about how tired they are and how they can never make it. There are a lot more trails to the south of this trail in Usery Park but I’m not sure that they look too interesting, mainly along the desert flats and washes. The Cat Peaks Trail might be a little interesting especially if done around sun up or sun down. Finished this hike around sunset and headed to the hotel, Motel 6, what a dive but it is Apache Junction in the winter and the snow birds abound and everything else was booked. Nice thing about not having Ginny along is I can stay at a dive and not feel I have to apologize for the accommodations (although the stay we had at Terilingua in Big Bend National park comes close). I ended the day with great Mexican Food. |
