| no partners | | Up at 5:00am on a Saturday morning, asking myself why the hell I'm I not asleep! Got ready and met up with a couple of my hiking peeps to drive up to the rim to hike Houston Brothers. Now the initial directions for this group hike said to meet at the Northern TH, so we made our drive down 95, with a 10 minute delay about a mile in. Ambulance blocking the road loading someone in with a SxS pulled off to the side, not sure what happened there. Continued down 95 and parked at TH parking, there was a white Jeep already there. Waited a good 30 minutes and no one else showed. Turns out they are all waiting off the 300 TH so down we went. I would have much rather have hiked starting at the top portion, as I forgot how up and down this section is. Trail is in great shape with tons of wild flowers, butterfly's and horsefly's in the many sections of wash. Had lunch at the Barbershop intersection and that's when we heard the first boom of thunder of the day. With that and the dark clouds coming in, we started back, beating the storm back out. Temps were good, was definitely humid especially once that storm rolled in but always good to get out for an adventure. |
