| no partners | | | Adventure number 1 for the weekend headed up north to do some exploring up on the Mogollon Rim for some fall color. Decided to explore in the Turkey Beaver Wildlife Quiet area to avoid the mass of hunters that were out. Took an old two track that led to the bottom of Beaver Creek. About half way down a Bull Elk started bugeling in the canyon below. I hurried down but he was already gone by the time I got to the bottom. Headed back up the other side of the canyon and oddly there was hardly any fall color as everything was still pretty green. Headed back to my rig and started driving the smaller roads, finding a couple spots were there was a little bit of color but again, Mother Nature must have lost track of time because there wasn't much yet. Around noon the skies opened up and started dumping rain, so that was my cue to head home. It had been since April that I have been up on the rim, it's always beautiful up there just too many dam people nowadays and October equals masses of hunters. Hoping in another week or two the colors will be prime. |
