Linda got Bruce all yiddy about Aylor's delicate geology. He planned a hike with his son and said I could tag along if I didn't say anything stupid... fat chance.

We hiked Second Water Trail over to Black Mesa Trail and that proved to be the most enjoyable tread of the hike.

The scratchwhack-up Palomino is gone with a fair amount of [ Parish's goldeneye ] . Agile boy scouts would find the ascent fun, less so for this rhinestone-less cowboy.

The hike down from Palomino wasn't as bad as feared. Somehow I was the only one that did not fall. The penny I found at the gas station on the drive over must have been working overtime.

The Dutchman Trail back to square one is fabulous for a half mile next to the geology. The other flat miles are draggy.

Synopsis
Originally declined because the top of the arch is tempting [ photo ] . So I just stayed back instead of going over. Like virtually any summit in the Superstitions, it's great views from the top of Palomino. Glad I joined!
