| no partners | | Checked some other flower places and more variety but the poppies are off the hook. Noted the signage change at one of the places. Then to camp and try to make sense of a network of old mining roads. Met some folks on ATV's trying to get there but informed them all the routes were washed out, foot traffic only.
And so it was. I ran one old road out to a drill site; then off trailed it thru some really crazy limestone on some sort of trail over a pass. There picked up a high road, which took me to an old mining area with about 8 open tunnels. 3 were pretty good, others were short and one was probably the powder chamber. Some nice ore, lots of cinnabar mixed with iron and sulphur. A little green/blue here and there.
Some interesting things in some of the tunnels. More mines higher but no road access from this side. A beautiful slick rock canyon ran below the site with a few small pools.
Back down to a new network of roads and some more workings. I remember a bit of this, believe we car camped on this spur road before a large washout. Into the main wash then back to the Jeep. More to do here for sure. |
