| no partners | | Ah, yes the joys of the modified Jeep. Whilst putting gas in at Globe happened to notice some oily spray on the fender wells. Checking later verified the boiling of the front diff fluid ejecting out the vent line. My guess is new gears needed in the front. Cha ching.
Anyway decided to camp; in an area that was in the filler hike category. Still is but has moved it up on the list some.
Great views from my campsite and not too far off pavement. Needed to let the front diff cool off. I grabbed a camera or two, something to drink and set out. Down a large wash to an even larger wash. The wash was pretty with lots of greenery, mesquites blooming their heads off, and some nice views. The big wash can be driven, and I would have if not for the problem. It's a back way if you will to Pinal Creek, and one I will do at some point. I noticed a few small things and went back on the undulating ridgelines to great views. I was using some new aussie style basic gaiters and they did well on keeping the foxtails out. 12 bucks on ebay. Anyhow, it cooled off nicely to sleep under the stars pulling my foam pad out of the Jeep. Some hunter had one of his hounds out and he woke me up the next morning.
Nursed the Jeep back home with some driving breaks so I wouldn't boil off all the fluid in the diff and made it home with no noticable degrading of driving performance. Tomorrow make a few calls, arrange to get it in the shop and online shopping for ring and pinon sets. |
