| no partners | | I drove south seeking water and solitude. Rains have come to the border but early yet for greenery and running water. However, a green spot drew me down the road I have driven many times before. The vehicle crossings were nice pools. I parked and rather than go on down and hike where I have been before I decided to hike the area I have dubbed the upper tanks.
These low hills are decorated with small ravines and lots of weird small rock formations. This wash would dump into a larger one that I have hiked before. I decided to just walk along this area not too far off but largely hidden from the jeep trail.
Great choice. I was surprised at the amount of water here, and as usual, I saw no one and the only trail I walked was made by animals. Very minimal illegal traffic trash. I was buzzed for about 10 minutes annoyingly by a probable border patrol single engine airplane.
Beautiful, mellow, clouds, a bit of rain and thunder, sun and OMG humidity. I enjoyed it all, a new section of territory for a pleasant outing. |
