I originally planned to do the Brittlebush Trail this day, but since I found out that there are temporary road closures in that area, I decided to go back to my failed attempt last week at the Park Trail. Park Creek was still running, but not nearly as much as the week before, making the crossing a piece of cake.

At the beginning of the trail, there is a huge tree that fell across it. You'll need to go to your left and make your way around. I got back on the trail right by a green metal trough. The trail is marked rather well by either flourescent lime green ribbons or cairns. About halfway up the mountain, the lime green ribbons turn to shocking pink. You still need to watch closely to find the trail since it gets faint in spots. I actually lost it more on the way back than I did on the way up.

The weather was very clear and cold in the morning and got fairly warm by the end, at about 3pm. As you get higher, all the north facing slopes of the canyons still have some snow since they never get any sun at this time of year, with the sun being so south in the sky. This sitting and melting snow makes for the streams running fairly strong at higher elevations. Park Creek remained flowing strong at 4000'-5000' and there were even some small waterfalls.

At about 4.5 miles in, the trail ends and FR422 picks up. I followed FR422 to Edwards Park and had lunch. There is a nice view of Four Peaks at Edwards Park, as well as Mt. Ord, the Mazatzals, Mogollon Rim, etc. FR422 was very muddy and marshy as it crossed Park Creek and its tributaries several times.
