The elevation gain was about 2000'. It looked early on like we might get rain, but fortunately we got only no rain, but the clouds stayed, keeping the temps cool. Once at the top, we took FR218 north to Dickenson Flat and took the Turkey Spring Trail back to the TH. The smell of the pines was a nice change from the desert. At the top, we enjoyed the cool 63 degree breeze before we headed back to the rest of our summer in Phx. On the way down, the sun started to come out, heating things up quickly. Some sirens and alarms were sounded by the nearby Boy Scout facility. For what, we don't know. After downloading my GPS route, the total mileage to me looked like 8.9 miles. I'll take Joe's word on the AEG. |
