While doing the basic loop for this hike, I also did the Thicket Spring Trail to it's ending and the Cornucopia Trail down to the blue bus, which added some extra mileage and elevation gain. I also did part of the Deer Creek Trail, hoping to take the segment starting from the Peeley TH to the first trail junction. I got over halfway when the trail started to fade and get very hard to follow in the brush. Since I had to be back home by 5pm, I decided to bail on that section until another day. The hike back up from the bottom of the ravine was pretty rough, adding about another 1100'.

I saw a deer at the end of the Cornucopia Trail just south of the blue bus and noticed the open mine shaft at the end of the Thicket Spring Trail. The weather was very cool, without being cold. It was just enough to keep from getting overheated from all the climbing uphill on this hike.
