| no partners | | Decided not to go north for a longer hike this weekend, so I went out to South Mountain around sunrise to get a few hours in before it got too hot. There weren't as many vehicles out there as I expected...I guess the early mornings are already hot enough to discourage a lot of people.
I headed for Buena Vista Lookout, starting on Marcos de Niza and then National Trail to Hidden Valley. I passed a road runner just after the tunnel, then continued on toward the lookout. Back on National, two hikers passed from the other direction who looked very familiar from HAZ posts. I've never me them, but it looked an awful lot like johnlp and trekkin_gecko  .
I paused briefly at the lookout to drink some water and then returned on Mormon Loop/Javelina/Ridgeline, with a short loop on National and Pima Wash and the end. Definitely more mountain bikers than hikers out on the trails today. It was in the low/mid 90s when I finished, so still not too bad. |
