The original plan was to hike the Miners Needle Loop with Andy and his son Johnny, however, I had the flu last week which turned into Bronchitis, which I thought I had kicked but today it told me nope. Started off hiking up cardiac hill, which always sucks, lol. As we got into Barks Canyon I was really struggling with getting air into my lungs, but I pushed on. Hiked up to the ridge near the Terrapin Junction and I made the decision to call it as I was struggling to much to breathe. I wanted Andy and Johnny to complete the loop so they pressed on. I hung out up on the ridge for a bit, enjoying the nice breeze then headed back down into Barks. I briefly thought about taking Barks Canyon all the way down to the Dutchman, but after about a half mile of that, my lungs said no, so I continued back up Bluff Springs trail back to the TH where Andy and Johnny had just gotten back. Didn't complete the loop like I wanted but was able to get a short hike in none the less. Not a drop of water anywhere, everything is completely dead and dry, but was still awesome to get my first hike of the season out there. |
