Wasn't sure I would be able to do the peak as I've been down for the count for nearly two weeks because of stitches (possible cancer removal). Well that and I smashed two toes while getting ready for Christmas, but they're healing nicely. Anyway, I felt pretty good by the time I got to the turn and headed up the peak.
On the way down I removed a bigger rock that had been there for at least a month; I'm surprised no one else had moved it by now. And then I noticed it (altho I noticed it on the drive via the Sonoran Parkway); that green stuff, yep, it was grass all right. Had to take a picture. I was unable to complete my route today thus:
12-30-2023 Hood Walk 1.69 miles, 450 calories burned (60 degrees, mostly cloudy). Said good bye to the resident reindeer (photo in photo set). We visited it Christmas nite. Got 3 laps in. I don't do the cul-de-sacs on weekends plus I'm still a little leary with my toes crushing themselves again.
I've had a rough December so I'm glad to see it almost gone. I was hoping to get 600 hiking miles and with the 'Hood Walks I would, but I only record them here if near the 3 mile mark; although it helps me meet my step goals. Thanks to all of you that I've got to play with this year; it's been grand. Thank you Joe for keeping this site going for all of us that participate.
Tomorrow, 2023 will end on 123123. I wish you all a Happy New Year 2024! |

Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled. |
