| no partners | | Finally warmed up enough to head out for a hike that hopefully I could complete. So I decided to get some miles in and a little peak. It was crowded on my way to the Peak but once I hit the Apache Wash junction and continued on the Sidewinder Trail, I would not see another hiker until almost back at the Trailhead. However, I saw about a dozen bikers. I definitely felt out of practice but was able to keep the pace.
I noticed the grass is getting taller and the glow on all the golden flora stood out now. The Christmas Cholla look really good and quite a few ocotillos were leafed out. While on the new Javelina Trail one of the passing bikers asked me if I knew where I was... I thot that was funny and said, yep. Guess they weren't used to seeing hikers on this trail. It's actually a fun connector trail. My hips were getting sore (out of practice) so I popped some ibuprofen and continued on my way via the Ocotillo Trail. I did my usual kicking of rocks off all the trails today.
WATCH 5.76 miles, 2:33-4:25PM, 1731-2047 elevation. 145 avg bpm/181 max (the 181 seems high). 14% Zone 5 (168-186 bpm) Max, 36% Zone 4 (149-167 bpm) anaerobic, 32% Zone 3 (131-149 bpm) aerobic, 18% Zone 2 (112-130 bpm) weight control burning 688 calories. Temp a lovely 62.5, sunny, slight breeze and 20% humidity. |

For me, sometimes it's just as much about the journey as the destination.
Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled. |
