| no partners | | Last hike of the year. Pretty good one. Fair amount of research and my contacts were not contacting me back, so off I went. Even with map study and GE still wasn't sure what would be encountered. My two bags of camo gear went in the Jeep. Full camo netting for the vehicle if needed and full camo for me and my gear.
A fence was encountered in the wash where the old road was. Some driving to see if a go round would present itself. Nothing doing. I would not need to hide the Jeep. I camoed up, set out. The old road was very faint and washed out so I used it at times and was off of it at times. This hike was a recon to see if this approach would work for a goal I have in mind. It might but for me will need to be a backpack.
Up and over a saddle, then left the tred for a pretty good cow trail. Wonderlands of granite boulders and huge rock aprons. A few small pools found, cowed up. The views were amazing. I saw my goal in the distance, so far the hiking was not bad and I knew for a fact the hiking on top of the ridge in my sight was brutal. I have been told of an unusual small ruin tucked in the cliffs; I scanned with my telephoto but could not see it.
I found several sites but nothing of note. The day was beautiful and I just enjoyed the wandering about. This might be a project that takes several attempts but all I have is time! |
