| no partners | | Beautiful small dune field apparently not used much. I had a field day with the camera, able to car camp at the TH so to get late afternoon and early morning light.
TH notes-- last part is sandy but I did not need 4wd. There is a turn around and maybe parking for 2-3 vehicles max if you don't want to be on the turn around.
Access notes-- I came up from Parker and hwy 62 on my way to death valley. Cadiz road is not signed. If you have a GPS you probably will be ok. Road is marked by a set back faded "Heart of the Mohave" sign, a half buried orange oil drum and a crushed car painted pink on the door. I drove 14 miles before I saw a small BLM sign with the road name. The road to the dunes is signed but you can see them anyway. No cars and no go when wet as you go thru several "dry" lake beds. Subarus' should be ok. The other end coming out on Route 66 was marked closed and there were several road closed barricades which I drove around to get to the Kelbaker road north. Needed the clearance but did not need 4wd. |
