| no partners | | What a day. I had a bad week with a back problem but had to get out. As such I was in kinda a sucky mood but determined to hike. The trip to the border area was wonderful with plenty of water in the roadside ditches and all the little crevices showing pools and flow marks on the dirt road.
Cartel guys in truck- Probably 2. Poacher shooting at a doe from his pickup truck- 1. Me getting attitude with a cartel guy-1. Helicopter--probably BP-1. Tinfoil hat thought--cartels have plenty of money for their own helicopters.
The hike was great, the easiest I could come up with and plenty of water with the cenote type tank full. I am usually here during monsoon but it was dry;the winter rains are making up for it. The canyon had unfortunately a fair amount of trash and I was without my gloves and trash bag. My back didn't want me to do any repetitive bending anyway. Much better visibility without the overwhelming vegetation.
Hiking out the helicopter looked me over, then went over along the border wall. Once I got to the Jeep I drove over the hill and within sight of the wall, and the large gap. Then the helicopter hovered for quite some time over a canyon area that is a bigtime illegal migrant pathway. Anyway I drove along and here was some moron parked in the middle of the road. I drove up to his bumper and he made no move. I drove around and since my passenger window was down stopped even to the driver side. He just stared. I said " how about the chiefs or the ravens?" Flat stare. "La Migra" A flinch. I left him with "GTFO of my territory".
Drive on out good with lots of big puddles to drive thru. My back is sore but I got thru the day with minimal Vit I so that's a WIN! |
