| no partners | | Started from the Hiero TH and got a bit of a later start, close to 7am. It was a little chilly in the shade, but as soon as the sunlight hit it got pretty warm. I did a counter clockwise loop heading south from the TH down to the Old Horse Trail, hiked east and then north to the Lost Goldmine Trail and headed back. Early on 2 parachute gliders flew by making hellaciously loud noise to break up the morning peace.
The one road I was hiking on just ends at one point, so I decided to bushwhack my way a little further north to the Lost Goldmine Trail. the bushwhack wasn't bad, but the high grass had me a little spooked since it's April and the snakes are out.
the last mile to the trailhead was where all the other hikers were. The Hiero Trail was pretty much a marching line. Lot was packed and a car was waiting on me to leave while I changed my shirt and shoes. |
