| no partners | | Trying to find legal places to hike with all the forest closures, just like everyone else. I haven't been out in this area for a few years, so it seemed like a good idea. Lots of parking, not too crowded. Weather was pretty humid, but the clouds kept the temperature down so it wasn't too bad. Only saw bikers, no other hikers until I was done and some arrived at the trailhead at the same time I did.
Started southbound on the Cougar Trail, then headed north towards the Lost Goldmine Trail, then south again to the Gila Monster, K, and other various trails. did a few sections of roads that I hadn't hiked before. Ended on the Old Horse Trail and hiked that back to the parking lot to complete the loop. When I got onto the Old Horse Trail, I saw a deer in the wash running away, didn't get a chance to get a pic.
Hiked one new section of single track I hadn't done before and some sections of dirt road. I was checking my old GPS tracks and official routes on HAZ for some trails south of the Old Horse Trail that I haven't done yet that look like some good options until the forests open.
Finished a little early and got out of the swelter. |
