| no partners | | I got to the TH and discovered that I forgot my Camelbak. It's a shorter hike and the weather is cooler now, so I made a quick run to the nearest convenience store to snag a couple of Gatorades and got a later than planned start. On my way out to get the Gatorades, I missed the magic 2 minutes of sunrise with a fire red sky.
Once FR12 leaves the wash, it's pretty rocky in most places, but not really strenuous to walk, just slow going at times. Bagley Tank wasn't a whole lot to see, but the area has a hidden valley kind of vibe. To the left from Bagley Tank another road is visible going up over the ridge, which isn't on any topo maps.
As soon as FR12 hits Bagley Tank, there is a single track horse trail that continues to the right, up towards the other ridge. I followed this single track until I hit the 4 mile mark and turned around. The more I explore out in this area, the more I find to go back and re-explore.
Made better time heading back. Weather was a bit chilly to start and warmed up fast once the sun hit. Didn't see any hikers until the last quarter mile to the TH, then a steady stream. |
