I wasn't going to be able to get out for a longer hike before the holidays, so I headed to South Mountain for a quick one with the pre-holiday crowds proactively burning off the impending calories. I started ~11AM, and though the trails were still busy, the wave of early hikers was clearing out as I started, so parking wasn't terrible.

The weather was fantastic...warm for December, but my legs felt good and I finished the usual route a little faster than normal. I saw one small snake on the trail (maybe a western patch-nosed?) but no other interesting wildlife. Since I was last out there six weeks ago, the city had re-sunk a few of the signposts that had been uprooted for months.
