The record fall heat wave continues into October, so I got out early for another SoMo hike before work this week. The mornings aren't quite as hot as summer these days, but it doesn't feel like fall, either. I started ~5AM and had the flashlight out along the rougher stretches on Marcos de Niza. Sometime in the past week, the city added some new signposts near the rocky chute, and it looks like they direct people up and around the steep part.

It was another hazy/smoky sunrise when the sun finally came up...I was ~6 miles in when I finally had direct sunlight. The trails were quiet again, though I did cross paths with @trekkin_gecko along National on the hike out. I spotted a tiny mouse that ran into a hole after my flashlight beam scared it away early in the hike, and I saw a roadrunner along the road (fittingly) as I finished. Other than that, a pretty typical morning at SoMo.
