| no partners | | With the cooler weather, this was going to be the week that I finally got out of the city for a more interesting hike. But I got an early morning text and plans fell through, so the summer SoMo streak isn't over quite yet. I was already up early, so I headed to Pima Canyon. There was plenty of moonlight before the sun came up, and it stayed dark a little longer with a bank of low clouds on the eastern horizon. The temperature was downright comfortable, by far the coolest start I've had in months. I heard lots of coyote calls down toward Desert Classic and the neighborhoods to the south as I got started along Marcos de Niza.
It was a typical hike other than the crowds. Weekend + nice weather = packed trails, and that was certainly the case today. I had to dodge people taking selfies on the way up to Dobbins Lookout and didn't spend much time up there so I could escape the second-hand smoke from the dedicated outdoor enthusiasts hanging around at the lookout...I guess that's the trade-off with cooler mornings. I finished around 8:45AM, and the parking lot was packed, with cars lining the drive...would've been a great day to hike somewhere more remote, but still nice to get outside. |
