| no partners | | | Had the truck detailed a couple of days ago so wanted a short drive on paved roads today. Parked at Cloudview trailhead along with about twenty others. Started off south on the bike trail along the boundary for state trust land, after tiptoeing by a couple of longhorn cattle rejoined the Lost Goldmine trail. Ideal weather for this sun exposed shadeless trail heading east on Lost Goldmine. After reaching the base of Turks Head a short distance north or left along the Jeep road brings you to a set of cairns marking the best starting point,went up and down on different “routes” ,liked the down route better,lots of cholla to avoid on hiking up this peak, carried my cactus comb along. Also took up an old ammo can intending to replace the glass jar register, instead was able to place the jar inside the ammo can, could use a new notebook now. Enjoyed lounging and snacking and viewing up top for awhile in this beautiful weather.First time encountering other hikers,3, on this peak. |
