| no partners | | Last day in Branson allowed me to get this short hike in before departing. The White River Valley Trail System was only about a 10 minute drive from where I was staying so this was an ideal go to during our visit. I had hiked the other 3 loops earlier in the week(write ups pending), so I just needed to the Green Loop and connector 5 to finish off the system. Got to the TH a little before 5am. This is a lasso hike that starts off within 100 yards of the TH. Went clockwise as “encouraged”. I assume this is to avoid collisions. Seems unlikely. In my 3 days of hiking this system I encountered 2 people.
This trails was a bit different than the other trails. One. It was much shorter. I got 1.9 miles because I added on connector 5. Otherwise it is only 1.25 miles. (If doing this trail I would suggest doing the Green/Orange Loops as a combo). Two. This trail seemed to be more “open” than the other trails. The Red, Blue and Orange trails felt like you seldom saw the sky and the trees seemed to crowd the trail more. I didn’t get this feeling from the Green Trail. Three. This trail seemed a lot wetter. All the trails had water elements, but this one just seemed wetter. There was one stretch where a stream and the trail seemed to coexist. The meadows also seemed muddier than the other meadows on the other loops.
Connector 5 is definitely worth doing. There is a shack and earth cellar at the end that are pretty neat. Weird to think that could have been somebody homestead. Ok loop. Had the trail to myself. Did see a deer e joying the meadow. Mosquitoes and spider webs weren’t too bad on this trail. I traded them for tics.  Caught them before they could make themselves at home. |
