I was working the White River Valley Trail System and this loop worked out nicely, allowing to get an early morning hike and then spend the rest of the day with the family. Did the loop going clockwise, as suggested. The trail is easy to follow, but I discovered that most of the signage, chevrons is set up for the clockwise direction. This trail was the driest of the four loops with minimal water features. I did a little back and fourth, following “advanced” alternatives and 1 of the connectors. There was a second Connector (#2) that I wanted to do, but the trail at the juncture was a foot underwater and I didn’t want it that much. Unfortunately, Connector 2 was the part of the WRV trail system that I didn’t get to do. There was a small stream that needed to be crossed a couple of times, but overall a nice, easy trail.
Mosquitoes and spider webs were huge annoyances. Mosquitoes weren’t bad as long as you kept moving. The webs were non stop. I did have a biker pass me about .4 miles from the end (only person I saw). His passing was awesome, because he took care of the webs for the last half mile Saw a turtle on the trail which was unexpected. |
