Second day in St Louis allowed for another visit to the Katy Trail. The previous day I had gotten to Family Arena and so today I drove out and used the parking area at the arena as my starting point. This segment of the trail was much more rural than the St Charles part. Once I left Family Arena the trail quickly entered a wooded area that provided minimal distant views. At around .9 miles the trail went under highway 364. This was one of the few openings along the way, providing a connector trail to a parking area as well as one of your last views of the Missouri River. After the highway the trail continued to be surrounded by trees (with periodic sightings of homes) until about 3 miles. The trail then crosses a road and has farm fields monopolizing the views to the east. A thick forest still buffered the west side of the trail. There was some indication of elevation changes that were occurring off trail (the Katy Trail is very flat), but the trees pretty much occluded most of the sites. The trail hits the Green Bottom TH around 4 miles which I used as my turn around point. There is parking and bathrooms at this spot making it an ideal starting point for next visit. On the way back I checked out the connector trail near highway 364. The connector trail was about .3 miles long and there is plenty of parking at this spot.

Another nice stretch of the Katy Trail. There were a few bridges stream crossings, but with a few exceptions, little evidence of the Missouri River. There was a lot of trail activity (over the last two days) between highway 364 and St Charles. Once I got past 364 trail use seem to die down noticeably.
