It was already light out when I hit the trail at 5. I was hoping to have the Merry Go Round and most of the trail done before it got too busy. Lucky, in that road and trail traffic didn’t really start to pick up until 8am.
Took the Munds Trail to the MGR. The Munds Wagon was in much better shape. I had hiked this trail back in July as part of the Hangover Loop and it was badly overgrown. Not the case today. I did a semi circle around the MGR and then went back to the road and took the established trail up to the top. Easy climb with some nice views. Headed back down and didn’t see my first hiker until the Hangover juncture. It did get busier as I neared the TH.
Great weather, though I did start with a jacket which I wanted to shed within the first 30 minutes. Surprisingly little road traffic. Encountered 13 hikers, 3 joggers and 2 bikers. Wildlife was 1 lone deer. |
