| no partners | | Started just after 6am from the Desert Hills TH. Headed up Telegraph Pass to National. I either forgot or never noticed the petroglyphs next to the trail. headed east on National to Holbert then headed down Holbert. On the way down I hiked up to the Dobbins lookout.
The lower end of the Holbert looks to have been re-routed around the parking lot. I crossed the lot and got onto Las Lomitas and took that over to Ranger. I hadn't been up the Ranger Trail in 15 years, I can barely remember being there last time. The climb up Ranger really wasn't that bad. I think it was because it's not too steep anywhere and not rocky anywhere.
Took the Ranger up to the National Trail and then to Telegraph Pass again and back to Desert Hills. Lots of hikers, only maybe 2 bikers. Saw a coyote from a distance that quickly disappeared. One group of hikers warned me about a rattlesnake by the Kiwanis parking lot, but I didn't see it.
Very cool to start, had a lot of shade the first 3 miles. Got a little bit warm by the end, but not bad. |
