| no partners | | I did another variation on this loop. I started out with the same route that Andy and I did 2 weeks earlier, heading up 1356 and then up the road to the north end of Blue Ridge, and down the other side. Instead of continuing on 309 north to 1356, I took Trail 311, which is just a dirt road on this section, over to FR3512. This is only a very short section, but I haven't ever hiked it before. From there, I took 3512 up to 1356 and looped back.
Instead of taking 1356 all the way back to the TH, as it turns south, I took an unnamed trail that paralells the Bulldog Canyon Wash and then took Trail 306 south to FR10. The maps that are posted along the trails show 306 crossing FR10 and going straight to the trailhead. After a saddle, the singletrack that is 306 turns into a 4WD road and intersects with the many 4WD daredevil roads just north of FR10. When I got to FR10, I didn't see 306 pick up on the other side. I've seen where it connects at the trailhead, so I must have missed a turn in the 4WD maze.
Got a solid 8 miles in just under 4 hours. Warm and sunny again but not hot. No rattlesnakes seen, barely any birds or rabbits. Saw one guy pushing a bike, and one 4WD side by side along 1356. |
