| no partners | | Busier than anticipated. I forgot it's the first Monday of the week. They get out of school for pretty much anything these days. Returning home, the sign said it was spring break, go figure. Heading up, a lanky kid with a long stride looked like he was totally bored bobbing his head side to side.
I passed a dad with his two 10-year-old boys right when he said losers make excuses. That's all I heard, so I dwelled on that for the next few miles.
There is generally somebody in a gabby, loud group who squeaks in a good morning or a hello. Simply because they're a decent person. In my case, I figure it is a safety net; please don't kill us, you odd-looking thing. The L & J lot must have been packed based on all the small groups.
Heading down, the hellos went from delivered to initiated. Then acknowledgment dwindled the lower I got. What I consider a ribbon hill is apparently a death climb. Whatever happened to enjoying the journey?
In the ravine at the bottom of Prospector, grasshopper invasion was in full swing. They were flying every which way; spring must be near. There was a guy barely in sight heading up. My initial thought was that there is no way I'm passing that guy. This is where Dave would say, yeah not with that attitude. Halfway up & maybe within fifty yards, he turned around. Probably best, I was down to toe push-ups.
Before National, I passed an older gent doing the loop in reverse. Without a spoken word, I'd wager neither of us would consider changing direction.
Easy butter miles on the ridges, which almost always have a breeze at any time of the year. Even on the hottest days, a breeze from one side or the other swoops up.
Today was sponsored in full by sunshine and a cool breeze! |
