Wow!! If your reading this and it's still the week of October 7th - 15th 2007, get off your computer and drive to Flagstaff NOW and complete this hike. Even if it is only to the Inner Basin the ASPEN's are in their glory and it may not last much longer with the weekend having frost lows. Excellent hike -- forested pines and aspens to start, wide open basin views mid-way, then a little cardio climbing to the saddle and then an all out scramble to the peak. Truth be told the views from the peak aren't significatly better than from the saddle. That said - having forgotten my hiking boots at home (right next to the door) - I did the whole hike and scramble to the peak and down in hiking socks and slip-in-sandals. No skin left on the little piggies, but if I can do it with beyond substandard hiking kicks -- anyone can make the scramble. This is a must do every fall. Great weather and the Aspens in yellow blaze - Fantastic.

Wow! Great Hike! Waterfall flowing more than enough to make it enjoyable - saw 2 rattlesnakes(1 baby), and 3 adult and 8 juvenile Coatimundi's - plus 2 great overlooks of the mountain ranges on the loop back. The 1st unmentioned overlook is the large hill about 0.25 mile from the point where you take the mentioned right fork headed south. Views more than worth the 100 ft climb. Furthermore it was 110+ today in the Valley and no more than 85 on the trail.

The White Tanks is a nice area to hike if you can't get to the Supes or it is in your backyard like for my hiking buddy this day. However, the scenery is a little mundane and monotonous and has no real WOW factor. But, better than sharing Piestewa or Camelback with the "beautiful" people.

Wow! You either need to have a dog or 4+ kids to hike this trail on a Saturday. Luckily we had the dog. Unfortunately 2 days after the heavy thursday rains was far to long -- down to a faint trickle.

Hiked this one with a friend during the extreme heat advisory -- hotter than a sumbitch!
Added Vista Trail. The resort right along the path pretty much makes this hike now useless.

What a great day for a hike! The last 70 degree day we'll see for probably 6 months. Did not make it to the top, because I did not read the part where Fritski recommends long pants and he means it. But still a great hike -- I'll be back for a bushwacking soon.

Hiked only to the marked summit on the trail and then to the Chinese Wall. What a great hike I can't believe I've lived here 9 years and this is the first time I've done this hike. Beware the rattlesnakes are out - 2 on the summit. Also met a pair of ladies who had a great idea they mountain biked to the ascent point and then left their bikes in some scrub brush off to the left and then hiked the ascent. A nice combo.

Had planned a day of skiing at the Sno-bowl but the wind conditions had shut the mountain down. So drove Schnebly Hill Road down from Flagstaff and read Cosmic Ray's favorite Sedona Hikes book at a Flagstaff B&N decided this seemed like the best way to soothe the disappointment of a lost ski-day. Nice easy hike. Unfortunately with Sedona being overrun with Yuppie fever the road portions took away from some of the beauty of the hike. But that is unfortunately true for many of the hikes through Sedona anymore.
