Last trip logged in HikeAZ was from 2013! I had one more backback from that year not recorded and tons of hikes since then but I have been out of the game. Was super stoked to log in and find my old triplogs still here! Thank you HikeAZ for that! Anyway in an effort to begin logging and writing about trips.... here I am. Met up with a group this weekend at the Canyon that was hiking rim to river to rim via South Kaibab. Not having hike the canyon in some time played it safe and turned back at the Tonto junction. As the usual gorgeous canyon scenery. Trail conditions were more worn than I remember with fairly deep ruts in some of the "stairs" in the upper sections. Lots of people on the trail as to be expected.

Backpacked into Bear Canyon on Saturday, this was my first time to Seven Falls, it is absolutely beautiful and I will return soon. There were quite a few people but it didn't seem too overcrowded, I can definitely see why people flock here. Continued to Hutch's pools for camp, there was already a group there so had to backtrack to a campsite we had passed earlier. Sunday we hiked out via Sabino Canyon Trail. It was great to see the inside corridors of the mountain and can't wait to explore further... beautiful!

Second time I have done this trip... Love It! Last time I canoed, this time I kayaked, I definitely prefer the kayak. Hot Springs were awesome!

Gorgeous hike, didn't make "The Window" like I wanted to but did make it to the Espero link up. Will leave earlier in the morning next time to get to the window. Passed only 4 people the entire way up and no large groups, couldn't believe it. A beautiful hike without mobs of people... WOW! Would have provided a water report for Flying V Tank but it is behind a fence with large no trespassing sign. :(

Camped 2 nights at Four Mile Campground and day hiked in Aravaipa Canyon. Beautiful and surprisingly the water was bearable, not too cold.

Drove up to the rim to do a hike off of the two sixty. Once we arrived we were greeted with taped off roads "Extreme Fire Danger - Do Not Enter" and a Sheriffs truck guarding the entrance. Bummer. According to the Sheriff the lake roads were still opened so we headed up towards Woods Canyon Lake to improvise. What we decided to do was follow the various trails over to Woods Canyon lake do the loop and return via the rim vista trail. The improvised hike couldn't have been planned any better. Once we made our way to the lake we thought we were in trouble again as the trail appeared to be blocked off with large orange fences. upon reading we learned that trail had simply been rerouted because of an Eagle nestling in the area. We continued along the reroute and around the lake where we happened upon the biologist that was observing the nestling. Lucky for us they also had a scope set up for viewing the nestling so we got a good look at the little cutie as well. After a good look at the nestling and talking with the biologist we continued along the lake trail eventually making our way over to the rim vista tail. At the vista trail we could watch the storms come in over the mountains... beautiful! Spectacular weather and a baby eagle what a great day and hike.
