| no partners | | I was going to hit the Black Mesa Loop on Saturday, but the weather forecast was for 108 and I opted for a shorter hike. As I was driving over to the mountain, still not decided about where I would hike, I noticed some lovely clouds in the sky. I decided to climb up to the cliffs overlooking Canyon Lake.
An easy hike up and it was an excellent sunrise. Gotta love living so close to such majesty and beauty.
The trail is a road until you get the mountain. It does not look any more worn than the last time I was up there. A quick hike up to the top and it's mostly flat across the top. I arrived before the sunrise and started exploring the cliff.
I am happy I decided to do this easy one as it was 97 degrees according to my cars thermometer when I got back at 8am to the HWY 88/Mormon Flats Road parking area. I think I would have been cooking along the Dutchman Trail if I did the longer loop as planned. That will be next week, I guess, as it looks like the 100s might end soon!
