It was one of the best I been on in the entire USA. Ft. McDowell Mountain area had more Saguaros than Tucson Saguaro national parks. Then the view of 4 peaks was amazing, only to drive through the Mazatzal Wilderness area, it was one vista after another with such drastic landscape change happening so quickly you could never get bored on this road to Payson. then I took SR 260 up to the Rim which was beautiful as well. Once on top of the Rim, I went down Forest Road 300 which is right on top of the Rim. Hiked the Rim Trail up there, and drove down FR 300 until it reached FR 9350. This is a must drive if you are in the area. FR 9350 has better views especially Campsite c-29 and c-36. just park your car on the road and walk the rim pass the c-36 campsite, you will not regret it at all. This week was kinda busy up there with people, but I assume it is from some of the school's fall break kids. I was going to camp there but it was to busy for my blood so I headed to Big Lake. This day the views where great, but the sun seems to always be in the view of the camera so I never seem to get a good pic there at all. |
