I headed up (along with half the town of Safford) to see the first big snowfall of the new year. I parked at the Round the Mountain TH and headed up the Noon creek trail. All the new snow made the first creek crossing a little tricky and I was hiking in about 2 inches to start. By the time I reached the RTM junction sign, the snow was getting in the 5-6 inch range making the trail down to the second creek crossing a challenge to follow. I managed to find my way down but decided against crossing as it just looked to risky. Hiked back down the way I came making a few side trips down to the creek where I could before returning back to my truck. Awesome snow hike to start 2011!!! |
