Headed out to do another passage of the AZT with Bruce,Joe,and Dave at 5:00am.Nick was nice enough to join us on this one so we meet up with him in Tucson and headed down to Patagonia for AZT#4.We dropped a car off at the end and were in Patagonia to start hiking by 8:00am.This passage starts in town, goes up 1st ave. past the high school(Lobo's)up the road and turns into a dirt road. The first half stays on the dirt road but you do have some nice views. There seems to be a lot of old mines in this area.Dave and Bruce checked out one that the guessed went back over 100ft.This passage also had a lot of cattle and a few horses. We took lunch right before the passage finally left the road and went to trail. We came across a gentlemen putting his bike back together after carrying it through the wilderness so he could ride the rest of the way to Patagonia. He had started in Tucson. We came across a couple springs with water and some without. There were also a couple creeks running. The trail was in great shape. The views of grassy rolling hills, rock formations, diversity of trees and plants, mountain peaks made this hike very enjoyable. The last third or so was pretty much downhill and Nick even brought us some clouds here and kept our temps in the 70's.There was some intersting signs explanning how they got water to the mines using tunnels, ditches, and small dams. The company was to notch as always. Thanks to Dave for dinner and his wife Teresa for making us all a snack. All and all another great hike on the AZT.Thanks to everyone for a great trip. :D :y:
