Started at the Mt. Bigelow TH, headed up to the saddle, and started down. It starts swichbacking immediately through ripe raspberry nirvana. Tyler and I gathered raspberries, ate some, and Lindy might have stolen a few that got dropped . There are definitely some open and sad places from the fire, but with the rain, everything that is there was green and lush, so I'm thinking it is pretty awesome. There are nice shady sections to hike through to give you a little break from the sun, which can feel pretty brutal, even on a 75 degree day. We had thought we could make it down to the Douglas Springs trail (only 2 miles) before we would have to turn back, but we lollygagged, ran out of time, and ended up turning around at only about 1.5 miles. Still, we got a bit of a workout dealing with the humidity while heading back up those switchback... with absolutely necessary stops for more raspberries, of course |
