| no partners | | I made a solo hike starting out at First Water Trailhead. I arrived at the parking lot at 6:45am and was the first person to sign the log book this day. I hit the Dutchman Trail and connected to the Second Water trail. It was very chilly the first mile or so. As I warmed up I picked up my pace and worked my way down into Boulder Canyon. From there I headed south and connected to the Cavalry Trail. I worked my way up and then continued down to Marsh Valley.
Marsh Valley was a great area. There was plenty of water and greenery. I arrived at the junction with Dutchman and found I was making excellent time. I decided to head east towards Charlebois. Along the way I spotted a Coati off in the distance. I tried for a pic but it didn't come out all that great. From there, I made quick time and arrived at the spring. I also saw the first people of the day. There was a group of a half dozen backpackers in the area. I noticed several good campsites for a future backpack trip. This is another amazing area of the Supes!
After a short break at Charlebois, I returned west on the Dutchman. I was debating heading around Black Top but changed my mind at the junction with Bull Pass. I crossed Bull Pass and finally stopped for some lunch. After lunch, I made my way back to the car along the Dutchman. It felt great getting all the miles and being done so early. I really moved on this hike!
On a side note, can someone let me know where the Master Map is? I wanted to check that out but I was not sure of the location. |
