On the hike up Bluff Spring trail we pointed out some of off trail trips Denny and I have taken previously. We didn't see many people on trail until near the turn off to Bluff Spring. There was a group of about twenty and then we didn't see anyone else all day. We stopped by La Barge Spring and the Large Saguaro (which isn't looking good) and finally bushwacked through to Music Canyon. Once in Music Canyon the going wasn't bad. There were several pools of water and Music Spring was full. I've never heard much about this spring but I guess since you have La Barge Spring and Charlebois Spring 1/2 mile in either direction it's not used much. There were several interesting features in the canyon and we explored on our way up. Eventually we picked a route up the side and got up on on of the many peak on Music Mountain. We cut across a few times dropping down and climbing back up and eventually found the first route we thought might take us down. After a few times getting cliffed out Mike found a way down and worked our way back on trail. The hike out was easier but my legs started to cramp up so I slowed down and we made it out about 5p. |
