| no partners | | I decided to take advantage of the cooler weather and check out La Barge Spring. The drive down Peralta road at about 6:30 am was a line of cars. Carney Spring was packed and Peralta lot already half full. The morning was warmer than usual but it stayed in the 70's the entire hike. There were a few sprinkles and some thunder and lightning early on and then some wind later which kicked up the dust. The Dutchman trail is in okay shape but the Whiskey Spring and Red Tanks trails are messed up some. I like the trails that way but someone tried to cut the catclaw back so it's jumping catclaw now and it sticks to you until you take it off. Eventually I wandered off trail and ended up on the ridge next to Trap Canyon for the view. The grasses still have seeds late this year the socks and shoes take a beating. I talked to a few campers from St Louis near La Barge Spring (yes, the spring is running) and probably saw another ten hikers/backpackers on the way out. A nice day on the trail but I was hoping to be cold. |

| | A least a quart per minute. The pipe is obscured by the overgrowth but the water is flowing out of the trough. | | _____________________
